There is this tree in udupi garden signal . In the day time it is an ordinary tree standing tall against noise and smoke pollution. But with sundown hundreds of tiny birds emerge out of its hiding place in the trees. They remind me of tiny kids who come out of the school gates at the end of the day. Free from the constraints of the school. These birds make sounds like cheep chinv and swing on the cable that connects two high-rise buildings or rest atop the asbestos sheet covering the petrol bunk. They are ashy prinia. Just love to watch them. To the naked eye they are just chirping tiny birds. But through the binoculars you can make out their long tails and Light yellow underbelly. They are so full of activity.
my juvenile attempt at capturing them on the ipad
from the net
Sad thing is metro construction is happening and these trees will be cut down. Where will these birds go? I was happy that my flat is surrounded by greenery with all these huge green
trees. I spot birds like the bhraminy kite- oh so regal in its flight, which roost on the trees behind our swimming pool, hundreds of parrots streaking the morning and evening skies with their green plumage and red beaks creating a din to and fro from their nest, the brown breasted barbets- that
fly from tree to tree making one think a leaf has flown out of one tree and attached itself to another, :-), occasional green fly catcher, white owls, pigeons- i know most people hate them but i adore them in flight, they have the most beautiful wings, thousands of butterflies, dragon flies, damsel flies etc. Along with the crows mynahs. There is an increase in the number of crows and mynahs this year in this area. This year i have even spotted the black eyed orioles much to my delight
There is this tiny black bird just about the size of butterflies, i have yet to identify. they r too fast for me to concentrate on it.
