600th post ❤️👍

We visited this grandma every month since she lived alone. grand pa died when i was in my 13th year. they had no children. amma would prepare her favorite snacks and go from Andheri to Jogeshwari. we had named her jogeshwari bapama, bapama in konkani ..means grandma from paternal side. Her husband was my real grand pa's brother. we would leave home at two on a saturday afternoon, catching the bus and a auto and by 5 pm we were back home. i visited her because she had lots of books which she would let me borrow. Grand pa - Krishna ajja was a school teacher. he had good collection of books.they were one of the first few people who had a television when it first came. we had ours almost 20 years later 🙂🙂

To save money we walked a lot. so while returning from grandma's house  v walked a bit. amma always struggled to make ends meet. there was this bakery which gave out the amazing aroma of  freshly baked khari biscuits. while returning home amma used to get half a kg of these khari biscuits. we would come home, brew tea, dip khari biscuits in it and oh my it was so heavenly we felt like royalty. we were six of us at home and these khari biscuits would be over in two days time. i have not tasted such khari biscuits else where. next time i visit mumbai should see if that tiny bakery still exists....it is been 15 years since i last visited mumbai. my bro and family comes down to belagavi where my late father settled down after retirement from banking service. so i really did not find the necessity to visit my birthplace. i love bengaluru too much to go elsewhere. every now and then i miss the versoa beach, fresh fish,  street side vada pav...and  the taste of ragda patties sold by an auntie sitting on a tiny stool at the road leading to char bangla...i would save my bus money to buy these...ah memories...❤️❤️

the books are by Sadyojata Bhatta, husband's current favorite. i just flipped the pages of jitwari...it already has seen four editions in the same year of publication...now i am curious too. internet has been down last couple of days and it feels good to settle down with books surrounded by my plants on the balcony..
