For gouri - ganesh festival we make patholi - a sweet that makes use of turmeric leaves and also seppe/cheppe kheeri where rice is soft steamed with the addition of turmeric leaves and once it cools down adding freshly extracted coconut milk. seppe/ cheppe means bland cos neither sugar/jaggery nor salt is used for this dish.
turmeric leaf is believed to have antiseptic properties but i love using using it for its aroma & taste.srikanths office has a big terrace and he with the help of manjanna has grown lot many plants. turmeric is one of them.
he had got a few leaves for chouthi and on after the festival he takes the prasadam/offerings to the office to share with colleagues. but this time round he was on office tour so i did not make lots of prasadam.
with the leaves and organic mundaga rice sourced from Jaivik Sattva made kheeri today. and believe me when i say it so sooothing to the gut..especially after a heavy breakfast of pav bhaji 😀😀
extract coconut milk and add it before serving.
it should neither be too thick nor runny but porridge like consistency. i served with a side of stuffed bhindi and appe midi pickle.
A good sunday even though daughter was busy with cake orders.
