Two years completed :-)

Each time i update my blog i  tell myself. 'this is it, this IS my last post'. but then i come across something in somebody's blog  like a word or somebody  mentioning something and i think oh i too can write about this.so this goes on....
Though i started this blog on a whim at friend Apara Raghu's insistence- he always said my kannada was kind of cute', i found most of my family members  reading my blog and calling me and congragulating me. i also made a whole lot of acquaintances who send me sweet mails activating me from my hibernating mode whenever there is a slight delay in updates. I found it to be monetarily benefitting   when Vijaya Karnataka published all my recipes till Oct 2010 in their Deepavali Special issue and sent me a cheque, :-)
Srikanth, my dearest hubby does not find time to talk to me when he is at home..he is ALWAYS busy with work or else talking on the cellphone attending to some crises or the other in his workplace and when he is out of town he reads my blog and calls up and says vhai vhe makka sanganee mu (konkani)- meaning 'houdEne? nange hELle illaa'...well how is that?!!! Both my daughters read my blog once in a while so my blog has become a sort of time pass for them!!:-)
Here is my very first blog write up in Kannada
ಅಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಂಪು ಇಲಿ
After listening to me ramble about the attic in Teerthahalli and how i found a huge trunk full of books, Raghu urged me write it  for their sunday magazine section- 'manasige bandiddu' column. It took me almost two months to write and i sent it first to him, he said it was ok and i forgot all about it, when one fine day it appeared with  the title 'attadalli Kempu ili' .Sudhanva Deraje who was with VK then, provided the cute title. I was bombarded with calls from friends, colleagues and relatives on that day. Srikanth said ' i did not know you write so well in Kannada' and it made my day and i was on cloud nine!
my top five - widely read post till date is 'experiments with Sri', followed by  'environment friendly e-cycle'  Dengue-the nightmare, Sweet Pongal and Akki rotti- thanks to blogger stats.
I feel happy when my sister reads my english posts (she does not know kannada..hence the English posts are for her benefit) and she loved my Deshakaala post which i wrote in marathi.
Today  i am stepping into third year of blogging.so on the occasion  i am posting a picture of my family members who celebrate their birthday on a single day, i.e. third August. It was fun since all the siblings got together.

the 7 numbered candle is for Shreya who celebrates her 7th birthday.

my mom, Malavika, Deepa (my brother Krishna's wife), Padma (my brother Pandu's wife) share a birthday on the 3rd August while Shreya (my sisters daughter) has her b'day on the 8th August and brother  Krishna's birthday falls on the 12th of August so we had a grand cake cutting session. we called it birthday X 6. Do i need to mention that we did lots of screaming, eating and had total fun!!!
Avadhi has picked up some of my posts and published on their wordpress (now a fullfledged web site), and brother Sushrutha  sometimes shares my post in google buzz and Badarinath Palavalli who puts up my post on the Facebook  resulting in many visitors to my blog. thank you guys!!!
ah yes!! i gifted malavika with a hair straightener for her birthday.... at last!!!!
The background for  this mast head is by Niharika - a photograph of a pillar from Shravanabelagola.
Thank you all. Enjoy the month of shravana with loads of festivities and fine thoughts and good food.
